Bill Evans – Gone With The Wind

The album ‘Eloquence’ was actually published posthumously – probably because of the fact that while half the CD consists of four good duets tracks with bassist Eddie Gomez (of which Gone With The Wind Is One), the other half of the CD is just a few thrown together tracks that Bill probably didn’t want releasing after they were recorded. Still, an average Evans disc is still worth having, and this particular version of Gone With The Wind is one of the best tracks on the disc.

Beautiful Love (Bill Evans)

A nice transcription of Bill’s performance of Beautiful Love (take 2) as it appears on the album Explorations. This is one of Bill’s early albums featuring the great bassist Scott LaFaro.

Bills Evans piano solo’s ebook

Esnips has some great stuff on, and I’ve just found this 23 page e-book of Bill Evans solos – includes Waltz for Debby, Time Remembered, My Bells, Interplay, Fudgsicle Built for Four and Very Early. Not sure whether these are transcribed solo’s off actual recordings, but for pianists these will be great if you looking to play these tunes as Bill played them.

…Is a wonderful collection of video’s of great jazz musicians doing their thang. Bob must have collected these over years and he’s presenting them on his site in all their WMV goodness. Bills Evans fans (like me) are particularly well catered for, although Coltrane and Getz are there too. What you waitin’ for: get tuned in.
